7th Graders Grow Bacteria
Mrs. Asher’s 7th grade students have been studying bacteria and have successfully conducted a 5 day long experiment. Throughout their week long analysis, they have added vinegar and salt to beef broth to see is those additives will inhibit the growth of the bacteria. After their 5 day observation, the students were allowed to look at the bacteria that had grown in those substances under a microscope.
SPORTS NEWS
The girls volleyball team played against Northeast on Thursday, March 11th and won with a score of 25-14, 25-15, 25-21. This was their last district game and the Lady Angels are 1st place and undefeated in the district! They will host the district tournament here at St. Mary’s on Tuesday, March 16th.
The boys soccer had a great week defeating Tigrett Middle School on Monday, March 8th with a score of 2-1. On Thursday, March 11th, the boys beat West 8-0.
On Monday, March 8th, 7 of our 8th grade girls played in the City of Jackson Church League Basketball Championship game. They played an outstanding game and took home the championship title! The team is coached by two SMS alumni, Katie Coughlin (‘04) and Kristen Whitaker (‘02).

SMS Phone-A-Thon 2010
St. Mary’s annual Phone-A-Thon was a great success! A BIG thank you to everyone who came to help call and each person who made a very generous donation. The entire school appreciates your support and efforts!
